FAQ
If you want to test RADIUS, please contact us. We will schedule a demonstration and a potential test.
Feel free to test RADIUS at your own pace, or request a personal demonstration at your premises. Once you have informed us of your interest and the contractual details have been discussed, we will need about four weeks to set up your private RADIUS instance. We will then conduct a workshop at your location to introduce you to the program's usage and assist you with its practical implementation. Alternatively, RADIUS can also be installed on servers of your own IT.
RADIUS is always installed on its own instance for each contract partner and facility, using three dedicated servers. In addition to the physical separation between personal and usage data, encrypted backups are stored on a separate server. Data is kept for the legal minimum period and beyond, even in the event of the program being discontinued in your facility. In plain terms: your facility's data never mixes with that of another facility. While this makes it more complex and slightly more expensive, it also makes it more secure.
At the end of a treatment, you can independently anonymize or delete the data of a client. In the latter case, they would no longer be available for research purposes.
Unlike apps, which typically store your data locally, no data is stored on the local devices of clients and counselors. Therefore, the loss of a smartphone has no negative consequences for RADIUS.
If you have a parent organization (corporate structure, foundation, etc.) that sets overarching data protection regulations, all facilities and treatment centers can share a RADIUS instance. The data remains 'in the family' and the costs for operation and maintenance are shared.
Our data protection concept meets the strict German (church) data protection regulations and thus encrypts not only data transmission (SSL) but also limits access to the records. This password protection is extra strong for the counselor with a two-factor encryption. To access the data, a password and an electronic key are required. We will be happy to send you our data protection concept, including all technical and organizational safeguards, upon request.
Many studies have shown that the user represents the greatest risk. Despite all our efforts, we cannot control how patients and therapists handle their PCs, smartphones, or tablets. Therefore, we provide our users with a detailed guide to increase awareness and promote safer handling of their data and devices.
RADIUS supports processes that are already integrated into your daily routine. Therapists currently report spending up to an additional 15 minutes per day answering asynchronous messages from their clients. This number naturally depends on the number of clients and the communication that may already be occurring via phone, email, chat, or SMS. Furthermore, RADIUS is described as a tool for improving preparation, sharpening conversations, analyzing behavior, and extending the counselor's reach beyond the therapy session. Overall, RADIUS provides more quality than it costs extra time.
It is technically possible to integrate RADIUS with your existing administrative and documentation systems (e.g., KIS, SAP). However, to reduce interface complexity with your internal IT, we have avoided this so far. Instead, RADIUS has a function to export all interactions made within the system per client, which can be stored analogously or digitally.
No, because RADIUS can also be used in aftercare and find a lasting place in the client's daily life.
It is highly recommended that a professional user of RADIUS has certified training in the application of the Community Reinforcement Approach. However, it is not a mandatory requirement to implement the program in your facility.
We consciously decided to design a solution that can be used by addiction patients with a simple phone with SMS functionality. Even better is access to the internet, though it doesn't matter if it is on a mobile device (smartphone, tablet, phablet) or a stationary screen (PC, Mac, Smart-TV, terminal). RADIUS only requires a browser to make all functions available.
An internet connection is the most important requirement for your facility. Ideally, it should be wireless (Wi-Fi) or mobile internet via mobile network (UMTS, LTE). If internet is only available via cable, it is important to ensure that the patient and therapist can look at and work on the same screen together. Instead of this solution with the therapist's work computer, we recommend using dedicated devices (laptops or tablets). The internet connection speed does not matter for RADIUS.
Each addiction therapist receives a personal software key for RADIUS, so it is recommended to store it on a separate medium, such as a USB stick.
RADIUS allows you to transfer selected clients to other therapists in your facility for an indefinite period.
Clients can be created by the supervisor and then transferred to the actual therapist. The supervisor can continue to track all activities in the program and provide direct feedback or intervene.
Your time with the tool is no different from the time you spend with other software or media. If it is a recognized therapeutic intervention, it can be billed.
The number of accounts is not limited in any way. In addition to general server operation and maintenance, only additional costs are incurred per actively used client each week. Inactive or discharged clients can remain stored for free (even for research purposes).
The phone number stored in the system can be updated and changed at any time. Data is not lost when changing the phone number or SIM card.
The Community Reinforcement Approach, and thus RADIUS, can be used in various healthcare facilities, especially those dealing with addiction treatment. It is applied by therapists, psychologists, medical professionals, and rehabilitation specialists in addiction medicine, psychiatry, and psycho-oncology. It is most frequently used in ambulatory settings, inpatient programs, or teletherapy. This allows RADIUS to be used for a wide range of addiction-related conditions, including alcohol, gambling, and other substance dependencies.
